CASE STUDIES
Ducting Installation with Draw Pits

OVERVIEW
This project involved the installation of a 200m duct run with draw pits, ensuring proper infrastructure for cable routing. With meticulous planning and execution, the project met both functional and safety standards.
SCOPE OF WORK
Site Preparation and Excavation
- Conducted a site visit to finalise the ducting route in collaboration with the client.
- Excavated to a depth of 800mm, performing CAT scans every 150mm to ensure safe working conditions and avoid underground obstructions.
Duct Installation
- Supplied and installed 1x 200m duct run using 150mm ducting, following the agreed route.
- Installed 200mm of sand bedding over the ducting for protection, followed by marker tape to indicate the cable route.
Draw Pit Installation
- Supplied and installed 2 draw pits for the cable route, each made from precast concrete sections measuring 750mm x 450mm.
- Fitted both draw pits with lightweight frames and covers for accessibility and durability.
Reinstatement and Finishing
- Backfilled the trench using as-dug materials to restore the site to its original condition.
- Supplied and installed a draw cord through the entire ducting route for ease of cable installation.
- Removed all waste from the site and conducted a thorough cleanup.
